I wanted to share my recipe for homemade powdered laundry detergent. It makes enough to fill-up a large detergent box that I just re-use each time I make it, but it lasts way longer than a large box of laundry detergent because you use a very small amount.
You can also get a cute plastic container that you can use to store your laundry detergent. Pet food containers would work very well for storage. I will add two examples below.
Here is my recipe:
Homemade Powdered Laundry Detergent Recipe
1 bar Fels Naptha, grated
1 container Oxy Clean
1 box of Borax
1 box of Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda
1 large container of Purex Crystals Laundry Enhancer
Mix all of this together very evenly. I do it in a large trash bag, because I am able to twist it off and shake it all around well.
It only takes 2-3 Tbsp per load. You can use the small scoop that comes in the Oxy Clean container as your measuring scoop. I only have to make a batch about 4 times per year, so this saves us tons of money on laundry detergent.
You can pick various scents of the Purex Crystals Laundry Enhancer. My favorite is the lavender.
